Accessing UAB's Electronic Resources
You can access UAB’s electronic resources through the Search Engine or directly while browsing the internet with the ARE+ extension. The extension can be downloaded from the Lean Library page.
What is ARE+?
ARE+ is a browser extension, commercially known as Lean Library, which facilitates access to electronic resources subscribed to by the UAB Library Service. All members of the UAB community are eligible to install and use this extension.
How to Use ARE+?
- Download and install the extension in your preferred browser.
- Select Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona from the dropdown menu.
- Begin browsing. When you encounter content subscribed to by UAB, a notification will prompt you to log in with your NIU and password.

Direct Access to Subscribed Resources
ARE+ grants seamless access to UAB’s electronic resources as you browse the internet, without needing to go through the Search Engine. The extension detects links to UAB’s subscribed resources, notifying you and providing direct access. -
Enhanced Digital Library Experience
ARE+ offers additional support for using the digital library, including:- Links for accessing resources from sites that do not support direct identification or access.
- Notifications for resources with access restrictions.
- Availability of open-access versions, if applicable.
- Alerts for documents available in UAB’s collection from commercial platforms.
- Library-prepared guides and resources as applicable.
- Information on related resources found through external search engines (e.g., Google Scholar, Wikipedia).
