GenBank
Extensive nucleotide sequence database. Part of the International Nucleotide Sequence Database Collaboration, alongside the DNA DataBank of Japan (DDBJ) and the European Nucleotide Archive (ENA). The three organisations exchange data daily.

Database of laboratory protocols, providing access to over 60,000 protocols in biomedicine and life sciences. It offers researchers step-by-step guides from 1980 onwards, for immediate use in their laboratories.

SciFinder-n
A platform integrating various Chemical Abstracts Service databases (CAplus, CASREACT, CHEMCATS, CHEMLIST, CIN, MARPAT, and REGISTRY) and incorporating Medline. It is particularly notable for enabling chemical searches by structure, substructure, or reactions. The platform includes commercial catalogues, and search results cover all types of documents, with a strong emphasis on patents. First-time users must register from a computer connected to the UAB network using a UAB institutional email address. For access issues, please contact the library.
Scopus
Notable for its extensive content and additional services, including bibliometrics and author and affiliation identification. Scopus is the world’s largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature, updated daily. It contains information in 40 languages, with robust non-Anglophone coverage (e.g., 6,900 European journals, with over 50% of titles originating from Europe, South America, and the Asia-Pacific region).
Web of Science (WoS)
A predominantly Anglophone portal managed by Clarivate Analytics, providing access to a suite of multidisciplinary bibliographic and bibliometric databases. It supports thematic searches, cited works and/or author searches, and includes bibliometric indicators such as citation counts, h-index, and journal impact factor.
Regional scope
ÍnDICEs CSIC
A portal to CSIC databases, this multidisciplinary bibliographic resource compiles and disseminates research articles primarily published in Spanish scientific journals. It replaces "Bases de datos CSIC: ICYT, IME, ISOC."
OpenGrey: system for information on grey literature in Europe
A system for accessing information on grey literature in Europe, compiled by the Institut de l'Information Scientifique et Technique. It includes bibliographic citations of grey literature generated in Europe across fields such as science, technology, biomedicine, economics, social sciences, and humanities. Content includes technical or research reports, doctoral theses, conference proceedings, official publications, and other forms of grey literature. Open access.

Integrates four bibliographies: Isis Current Bibliography of the History of Science, Current Bibliography in the History of Technology (Technology and Culture), Bibliografia Italiana di Storia della Scienza, and the Wellcome Library for the History and Understanding of Medicine.
