Bibliographic reference managers
Reference managers are tools that help you efficiently organise and manage your bibliographic references and citations automatically.
Mendeley is a bibliographic reference manager, academic social network, and collaborative catalogue of scientific literature. It helps you organise your research, collaborate with other users online, and stay informed about the latest publications. Key features include:
- Automatic generation of bibliographies.
- Discovering relevant documents in your areas of interest.
- Easy import of documents from other platforms.
- Online collaboration with other users.
- Access to your documents from anywhere via the web.
Mendeley integrates a desktop version (Mendeley Reference Manager) with a web version (Mendeley Web), which need to be synchronised.
How to access
The UAB offers access to Institutional Mendeley to members of the university community. To be able to enjoy the institutional benefits, it is necessary that you access the tool through our institution:
1. Visit the official Mendeley page.
At the top-right corner, you will find two options:
- Create an account: Choose this if you do not have a Mendeley account and want to register.
- Sign in: Select this if you already have a free Mendeley account and wish to upgrade to the Mendeley Institutional Edition.
In both cases, you will be prompted to select the option Log in through your organisation, located below the email input field. You do not need to enter your email at this stage.
2. Search for "Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona."
As you type, a dropdown menu will appear with various institutions. Select UAB and click Continue.
3. Confirm your institution.
A screen will appear asking you to confirm that your organisation is the UAB. Click Confirm your institution.
4. Sign in via UAB SSO.
On the next screen, select UAB SSO and sign in using your UAB credentials (NIU and password).
5. Set up or upgrade your Mendeley account:
- If you do not have a Mendeley account, you will need to provide your personal and academic details to create one.
- If you already have a free Mendeley account, log in with your existing credentials to transfer it to the Institutional Edition.
6. Institutional access activation.
Mendeley will recognise your entitlement to institutional access upon logging in through UAB.
