Author identifiers

It is important to choose your professional name and standardise your signature, as this will ensure effective retrieval of your scientific output and enhance visibility. There are various author and institution identification systems. Some are linked to commercial initiatives (such as Scopus and Web of Science, which have their own identifiers; Google Scholar also allows authors to create profiles to register affiliation and output). Others are linked to independent initiatives, such as IRALIS and ORCID. All of these are free of charge.

ORCID is the identifier recommended by the UAB and CSUC (Consortium of University Services of Catalonia), and is widely used by other research institutions and major scientific publishers. At our university, ORCID is required for certain tasks, such as maintaining an up-to-date profile in EGRETA.
