Wassu UAB Foundation

Wassu-UAB Foundation was born from the stories of many women and girls, and from the conviction that their rights must be respected.

We are an academic organisation of international scope, based at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). We act to prevent harmful traditional practices, especially Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), the management of its consequences, and to support the women and girls who suffer them. We work through anthropological and medical research, applied to knowledge transfer.

To improve the living conditions of women and girls, recognising their right to personal integrity and freedom on a basis of social equality.
 

Mission

Design and implement a scientific methodology and transfer knowledge to promote positive social transformations regarding sexual and reproductive health and rights.
