The kick-off meeting of the HENAC project was hosted by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona on 18 and 19 April.

Equipo del proyecto HENAC PID2022-138242OB-I00

Innovative project to address the health and well-being of athletes who develop their career towards, or in, high-performance sport.

The athlete, on his way to high performance, has a central position in a structured environment (individuals and entities in both sporting and non-sporting institutions, and public or private environments) with different levels and spheres of interaction (sport, private and academic-vocational). The context in which they are involved plays an important role, as the goals, structure and culture of the environment can vary for each athlete.

The UAB GEPE-GRECSE research team leads the HENAC R&D project (PID2022-138242OB-I00) which aims to analyse the role of environments in supporting the development of healthy sports careers (toward or) in high sports performance.

During the two days of meetings and work sessions, members of the research project and work team planned the tasks to be done over the next four years in order to achieve the set goals:

  • Assess the resources and needs of high-performance sports environments.
  • Assess the career of athletes trained in high performance sports environments.
  • Analyse the role of the family environment in accompaniment.
  • Analyse professionalization in women's sport.

A selection of key actors from the environment of high-performance centres, clubs and sports organizations were involved in the planning during an open session in which the results of previous projects were shared and their needs were explored to be considered in the design of the actions to be developed.
