What is the Mentor Programme?
The mentor figure is mainly aimed at bringing international and local students into contact. Thus, you can have a “buddy” to count on and share good times with, to make your stay at the University and your time in Barcelona much better. You will be assigned a student from your faculty. Not only will he/she be a friend to call on whenever you need, but he/she will also help you if you need a hand on any matter. Your mentor will be there for you especially during your first days here in Barcelona and at the UAB, and also throughout the academic year. He/she will advise you when enrolling in the courses, finding a place to live, deciding where to go out and what to visit, etc.
UAB mentors are UAB students that offers to be a mentor to make easier your arrival and your stay in the university during your exchange.
Who can join the Mentor Programme?
All the international students of the UAB Campus can join the Programme, regardless of their nationality or studies. Please note that it takes at least 3 international students of the same faculty willing to have a mentor to make it happen, since mentors must have at least 3 students assigned. That means that the Mentor Programme might not be available in faculties where there aren’t many international students.
Who might be interested in the Mentor Programme?
- International students who are interested in knowing the local culture and sharing experiences with local and international students.
- International students who want to know the UAB better.
- International students who are interested in getting to know people from other cultural backgrounds.
- And last, but not least, international students who feel kind of “scared” because of the first days abroad. Let's face it: this experience is not always easy, so having someone you can trust can be very helpful!
How to apply for the Mentor Programme?
If you wish to have a mentor, you just need to fill in this application form. Don’t forget to include the name of your studies so we can find you a mentor from your faculty.
We look forward to meeting you all!
