Last Wednesday, March 13, Eduard Gil, head of the management and management of the Audiovisual Cluster of Catalonia, gave a presentation of the organization to the faculty. The Audiovisual Cluster of Catalonia, which has 190 companies and institutions, integrates the main agents of the sector, including eighteen training centers. One of its priorities is to "facilitate job opportunities for university students in the fields of communication and audiovisual once they finish their studies."

During the presentation, Gil highlighted the growth and vitality of the audiovisual sector in Catalonia in the last 10 years, promoted by technological evolution and digitization. Catalonia has 120 audiovisual festivals, two major world-renowned fairs, such as MWC Barcelona or ISSE Barcelona, two film commissions and many other elements that place it as a world benchmark.

In recent years, within the commitment to set a trend and add value to the companies and institutions that make it up, the Cluster has promoted the dissemination and exploration of innovative topics such as artificial intelligence, immersive experiences, blockchain and NFT, through initiatives such as Zoom Marques meetings.

Highlighting the projects aimed at young people, mentions Talent Week, which includes the renowned audiovisual pitching, and the Talent Pact, an initiative that brings together young people from the fields of culture, arts and audiovisual.

Finally, Gil recognized the technological level that new generations have when creating audiovisual products presented in pitching, but he transmitted a advice to the students and tutors present saying that "it is necessary to rework the narrative of the projects, explain them better and propose disruptive ideas, that is what the industry is looking for. Sometimes technology takes precedence over the essence of projects and we have to return to the essence."

From the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the UAB, we applaud the initiatives of the Audiovisual Cluster of Catalonia in the promotion of creativity and innovation in the audiovisual sector. We are committed to continuing to collaborate with organizations like this to promote excellence and professional opportunities for our students in this constantly evolving field.
