- The major advances in the diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart diseases over the last 50 years, especially the therapeutic advances in pediatrics and neonatal care, have meant that over 90% of children born with a congenital heart disease can reach adulthood. The result of this is that there is a new population of adults with congenital cardiopathy, who have a tremendously complex cardiac anatomy and physiology that was previously unknown even to most cardiologists without direct experience of it.
- This graduate diploma is profession-oriented. Its students, mostly from the field of cardiology, receive personalised theoretical and, in particular, practical training in all the new concepts, topics and skills they need in order to work in an adult congenital heart disease unit.
