Ferran Sunyer Collection
Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer was born in Figueres in 1912 and died in Barcelona in 1967. From birth, he was affected by a total paralysis that made it impossible to attend school for him. The coexistence with their cousins since childhood meant that, at the same time, they progressed culturally, until their interest in physics, astronomy and mathematics was revealed.
In 1938 he published his research in the Comptes rendus de l'Académie des Sciences in Paris. Since then, he has had regular contact with the French analytical school, especially with Mandelbroj and his disciples.
Description of the collection: According to the agreement signed between the Ferran Sunyer and Balaguer Foundation and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona on April 22nd, 1999, the Library has transferred the archive of the mathematician Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer -epistolary, works, notes, articles and other documents- (1942-1976) as well as its bibliographic collection (168 monographs and offprints).
