"Vicenç Altaió. From anarcho academia to the traffic of ideas” is the new exhibition that hosts the Exhibition Hall of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where visitors can delve into the universe of the creator and poet Vicenç Altaió, fifty years after having studied. This exhibition offers a complete view of the most poetic Altayon to the most transgressive. Organized from the Master in Management and Analysis of Artistic Heritage of the UAB with the subject Critics, Curatorship and Dissemination of Art.

The exhibition takes visitors to the artist’s house, a space where Altaió experiments with the image, transgresssses the limits, builds a metaphorical world and explores the relationship between life, art and death. The author, considered a nomad of words, has dedicated his life to the exploration of art, poetry, writing, curating and cinema.

Born in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda in 1954, Vicenç Altaió is a key figure in contemporary Catalan culture. Along with artists such as Perejaume, Frederic Amat, Pere Noguera, Jordi Benito and Carlos Pazos, Altaió is part of the third generation of avant-garde artists, influenced by figures such as J.V. Foix, Salvat-Papasseit, Dalí, Miró, Tàpies and Brossa.

The works on display include collections of poems, catalogues of the main exhibitions he has curated, magazines edited by Altaió, photographs, artist’s books and works by artists close to him such as Perejaume, Alfredo Jaar and Hannah Collins. You can also see fragments of the film "History of My Death" by the filmmaker Albert Serra, as well as objects from his cabinet of curiosities: masks, skeletons, paintings and drawings. The exhibition also includes an interview with the artist on the occasion of the exhibition.

The itinerary of the exhibition, made up of about sixty pieces, is distributed in six areas, offering a tour of the artist’s house, establishing a link between his habitacle as a great chamber of wonders and its various facets. This exhibition reveals Altaió’s revolutionary poetic voice and her desire to explore and break the boundaries of visual and written culture. This is the first exhibition dedicated entirely to his figure, which he himself describes as an autobiography without subject.
