This week the UAB is holding its annual Open Days. During these days, the University presents its academic programmes to over 24,000 students and 400 teachers from upper secondary schools. On 5 and 6 February, the Open Days will take place on the UAB Bellaterra Campus; on Friday 7 February the information sessions will be held online for those students who cannot travel to the campus. One of the new academic programmes the UAB will be offering in the 2025/26 academic year will be the joint degree in Economics + Computational Mathematics and Data Analysis.

Jornades de portes obertes

The degree in Economics + degree in Computational Mathematics and Data Analytics offers a comprehensive training to address and analyse economic problems such as the functioning of financial markets, income distribution, poverty in the world and the sustainability of current economic growth models. It combines knowledge about current economic phenomena with advanced mathematical modeling and programming skills: the student learns to use advanced mathematical and computational tools and to create new algorithms to identify patterns and perform simulations that provide real and measurable value.

This double degree is offered by the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies and the Faculty of Science of the UAB and is a combination of two existing bachelor's degrees. Twenty places will be offered and the degree has a duration of five years (348 ECTS credits). Career options include opportunities in the financial and banking sector, public administration, official organisations for data generation and management, European institutions and agencies, and national and international regulatory bodies. It is focused, therefore, on training versatile professionals for both traditional sectors such as consulting and finance, and emerging areas such as data science, artificial intelligence and advanced economic research.

The Open Days consist in some 400 information sessions held in all UAB teaching centres. Attendees will also be able to visit the Vila Universitària facilities to learn about accommodation options available on the UAB campus. In a few weeks, the University will also be promoting its range of courses at the Barcelona Education Fair, taking place from 26 to 30 March.
