On 25 and 26 April 2025, the UAB will participate in the first health and wellness fair dedicated to young people in Central Catalonia Fes-te Salut! This pioneering initiative aims to make resources and information on health and mental health available to young people in an experiential way: through workshops, shows and talks. At the same time, Fes-te Salut! also wants to be a meeting and collaboration space between the different entities and associations that work for young people within the region of Central Catalonia.

The fair was created in response to the DESKcohort study, which is a survey on social aspects, education, health and health behaviours, aimed at secondary school, vocational training and upper secondary school students in Central Catalonia with the objective of addressing social inequalities in areas such as education and health.

The Fes-te Salut! fair was created as a response to the challenges detected by the epi4Health research group (UAB, UOC and UVic-UCC) with the DESKcohort study. The study was conducted with the support of almost all the institutes of Central Catalonia and observes the health behaviours of young people in Central Catalonia. The project was born with the aim of being a non-profit and solidarity initiative, which puts the integral health of young people at the centre.

A fair that aims to be transformative and participative

Fes-te Salut! wants to create an experiential space where young people can discover and interact with regional resources and entities in subjects related to physical and mental health: healthy leisure, sexuality, relationships with others, substance abuse, nutrition, behavioural addictions and many other areas of their lives that are ultimately related to their welfare.

The fair's programme will include a variety of proposals, with the shared nexus that all activities will be experiential and interactive. Fes-te Salut! calls on institutions, organisations and groups in the area of Central Catalonia, and research groups and private entities to join the fair with their own proposals for activities in these fields:

  • Performances: concerts, scenic arts and exhibitions
  • Conferences and debates: with first-hand accounts, influencers and leading professionals
  • Workshops: art, cooking, health, sexuality, escape rooms, sports, etc.
  • Audiovisuals: films, and other interactive formats
  • Tech Room: virtual reality, immersive reality and AI health applications

The fair will include a Scientific Committee and a Youth Council which will be in charge of choosing the activities to be offered.

A research-born project addressed to young people

The promoters of the event are the epi4Health research group and the network of research groups Xarxa TECSAM, and includes the participation of the Government of Catalonia, the Ministry for Education, the Ministry for Health, the Ministry for Social Rights, the Manresa City Council, the Barcelona Provincial Council, the Public Health Agency of Central Catalonia, the ICS Central Catalonia, the General Subdirectorate of Addictions, HIV, STIs and Viral Hepatitis, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, the University of VIC-University of Central Catalonia (UManresa campus), the Open University of Catalonia, FEDAC Berga, the Sant Joan de Déu Health Park, and the Ministry for Research and Universities.

The initiative is aimed at students from Central Catalonia (3rd and 4th-year secondary students and upper secondary and vocational training students), who are invited to attend with their teaching centres on Friday morning, 25 April.

The teaching centres interested in participating can already register via this online form to ensure places, which are limited. The event will also be open to young people, youth groups and families on Friday afternoon, 25 April and Saturday morning, 26 April.
