The UAB to celebrate European Research Night with a day full of popular science activities
On 27 September, the UAB will be holding a wide array of activities as part of European Research Night, a public event dedicated to popular science activities.
Next Friday 27 September the UAB will celebrate European Research Night with a day full of informative activities. The aim is to bring research, innovation and its protagonists to the public of all ages in a simple and fun way.
This event is held on the last Friday of September each year in more than 300 European cities simultaneously. In the previous edition more than 200 activities took place in Catalonia, including talks, workshops, experiments, shows and games. This year, during the week of 27 September, a large number of informative activities will take place in Catalonia. Researchers from more than 50 scientific organisations will offer talks, workshops, games, experiments and many other free activities open to all audiences.
In the heart of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, visitors will find a research fair, with workshops and demonstrations, games and micro-talks, and a chance to converse with researchers from the university and the research institutes of the UAB Sphere: the Institute of High Energy Physics, the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona, the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona, the Institute of Biotechnology and Biomedicine, the Institute of Neurosciences, the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology, and the Centre for Ecological Research and Forestry Applications. The fair will start at 5:00 p.m. and end around 10:00 p.m. with a telescope observation workshop.
In the morning, secondary schools will be able to visit the UAB facilities, where workshops and talks will be offered in different research centres lcoated on campus. UAB researchers will also be visiting schools to give talks to students.
This project is possible thanks to the co-funding of the European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation programme and the collaboration of the consortium formed by the University of Girona (UdG), coordinator of the project and of the Girona node, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), the University of Barcelona (UB), and the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal), coordinators of the Barcelona-Vallès node; the University of Lleida (UdL), coordinator of the Lleida node; the Rovira i Virgili University (URV), coordinator of the Tarragona node, and the University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC), coordinator of the Central Catalonia node. The Catalan Association of Scientific Communication (ACCC) is responsible for the communication and coordination of the different nodes.
