The UAB to attend the Youth Mobile Festival Barcelona (YOMO)
Technology workshops and demonstrations of robotics are just some of the activities organised by the UAB School of Engineering stand at the YoMo 2018 (Youth Mobile Festival), being held from 27 February to 2 March. The festival is addressed to 10 to 16 year olds and forms part of the GSMA Mobile World Congress. Several research institutes located on the Bellaterra campus will also be at the festival.

The School of Engineering has its own stand where it will be offering workshops on robotics, automatic hands, high-speed robots, and robot faces:
-Tuesday, 27 February: Daniel Herbón (automatic hand)
-Wednesday, 28 February: Eric Ciurana (high-speed robot)
-Thursday, 1 March: Jonathan de la Morena (VEX robot)
-Friday, 2 March: Fernando Vilariño and Juan Carlos Villalobos (robot face)
The workshops are coordinated by School of Engineering professor and researcher of the Computer Vision Centre (CVC) Fernando Vilariño, with the collaboration of students from the school's Robotics Club.
Each day an air hockey competition will be held, ub which organisers will ask visitors to participate with the question: "Do you think you can beat a mobile phone at air hockey?".
In addition to the UAB School of Engineering, several research centres and institutes with head offices at the Bellaterra campus will also be there: the Institute of Neuroscience, the CREAF, the Institut Català de Paleontologia, the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology of Catalonia and the Institute of High Energy Physics.
YoMo was designed to transfer classroom learning to real life, through the demonstration of of exciting and gratifying professional opportunities available within the the mobile system of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) sector.
Entrance is free for all registered school groups. The venue will be open from Tuesday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
YoMo receives the collaboration of local, regional and European entities, including the Government of Catalonia, organisations from the STEAM industry and professional institutions.
