The UAB ranks among the world's top 100 universities in 10 disciplines according to QS by Subject rankings

The 2024 edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject places the UAB among the top 100 universities in the world in 10 disciplines: Anthropology (51-100), Archaeology (51-100), Economics and Econometrics (77), Education (89), Geography (51-100), Modern Languages (72), Mathematics (97), Sociology (66), Veterinary Science (27) and Linguistics (62), the latter being the discipline of all universities in Spain that has risen the most in the ranking, a total of 29 places. In addition, the UAB is among the top 200 universities in the world in 32 of the 55 scientific disciplines ranked by QS.

At the national level, the UAB leads Spanish universities in 5 subjects: Linguistics, Sociology, Veterinary Science, Geography and Anthropology (in these two subjects it shares the first position with other universities) and is among the 3 top universities in 25 other subjects.

As for the classification by major areas of knowledge, the UAB moves up from 95th to 93rd position worldwide in Social Sciences, the only major area in which the UAB is among the top 100 in the world. It ranks 109 in Arts and Humanities, 118 in Natural Sciences, 151 in Life Sciences and Medicine, and 236 in Engineering and Technology.

Since 2011, QS publishes annually its QS World University Rankings broken down by scientific disciplines. The ranking classifies the best universities in the world in 5 major areas of knowledge and 55 scientific disciplines with the aim of helping prospective students identify the leading universities in a given field of study. The number of universities analysed in this edition was 4,982 from 149 countries.

The ranking is based on data from the latest edition of the general ranking, in which the UAB ranked 149th in the world and classified as top university in Spain.
