The UAB Doctoral School awarded a quality certification
The Doctoral School has just been awarded certification of its internal quality assurance system and institutional accreditation. With this accreditation, eleven centres have now been received the certification. All centres are expected to complete this process, since institutional accreditation is part of the UAB Strategic Plan.

The Doctoral School has obtained certification of its internal quality assurance system from the AQU Catalunya, as well as institutional accreditation from the Council of Universities. This centre joins those of Psychology, Biosciences, Political Science and Sociology, Science, Economics and Business Studies, Arts & Humanities, Education, Communication Studies and the School of Engineering, bringing the total number of institutionally accredited centres to eleven.
The certification of the internal quality assurance system demonstrates the adequate implementation of the system that allows for the improvement of the academic programmes. Institutional accreditation is the next step, with a validity of six years which allows the centres automatically to renew the accreditation of their academic programmes. It also makes it possible to simplify the calendar of the certification of quality of these programmes.
Both processes are voluntary on behalf of the centres, which carry them out with the academic support of the Vice-Rectorate for Quality and the technical support of the administration and quality management of the centres, as well as the Office of Teaching Quality and the Area of Digital Transformation and Organisation of the UAB. Despite this voluntary nature, the UAB is firmly committed to obtaining institutional accreditation of its centres as a means to make their teaching quality visible.
In addition, the institutional accreditation of the centres is part of the UAB's 2018-2030 Strategic Plan: “The UAB of the future. Horizon 2030”, in which it is included as one of the objectives within the section dedicated to teaching.
Institutional accreditation strengthens the governance and autonomy of the teaching centres, demonstrating that the University fulfills its legal responsibility to ensure the quality of its academic offerings and related services.
