From 20 January to 7 March 2025, the UAB Exhibition Hall (Building of the Communication Library and General Newspaper Archives) will host the exhibition "Sexualities and Childhoods: Constructing Knowledge," a project by the AFIN Research Group dedicated to research on families, reproduction, childhood, and sexuality. The exhibition consists of a collection of drawings created by groups of children aged 7 to 11 from various public primary schools in the province of Barcelona, which provide data on how they think about, interpret, and give meaning to sexuality.

This project began in 2017 with the aim of deeply understanding what children know about sexuality and how they experience it, in order to understand how adults interpret and manage this area during childhood. AFIN uses participatory methodologies through which it investigates how teachers and families support children in their experiences and knowledge of sexuality.

The creation process was carried out through the participation of the school management team and family associations, who agreed on the themes and research questions according to the children's ages. Based on this, the boys and girls created their drawings in response to various questions, such as “What relationship does sexuality have with our body?” or “What are the different ways to experience sexuality?” SexAFIN explains that the research results “contribute to the development of education and sexual and reproductive health programmes and policies.”

The exhibition is organised by the SexAFIN project, which is part of the AFIN Research Group within the Department of Anthropology of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
