He was the first Catalan to study psychoneuroimmunology and from here decided to delve into the world of amino acids, nutrition, supplementation, hypnosis and microimmunology.

As part of the activities during the Health and Sustainability Week, Xevi Verdaguer will give a conference entitled "Interacció de la histamina amb els estrògens" at the conference hall of the Rectorate Building on 13 April at 12 noon.

According to Xevi Verdaguer, traditionally there has been the belief that bad luck is the cause of some women having strong menstrual pains and other ailments, and that there is a need to look at the relationship between estrogens and histamine to alleviate them.

“I am regular only when I've got my period, but not on any other day." This statement, according to Xevi Verdaguer, can be explained by the “relationship between female sexual hormones (estrogens) and histamine”. “The excess of histamine produces a greater production of estrogens which, in turn, generate an excess of histamine depending on the day of the menstrual cycle, given that the use the same hormonal receptor”, he points out.

At 21, Xevi Verdaguer began to work as a physiotherapist. Since he noticed that his knowledge on health and his patients was incomplete and he felt unsatisfied, he began to specialise in craniomandibular and craniocervical abnormalities; and integrative posturology followed. “Many times people have bad postures because of a bad mandibular occlusion, or 'bad bite', or because of standing incorrectly or having problems with their sight” he writes in his blog, and adds that "however, in some of these patients their bad posture can't be corrected, and that is why I continue to investigate the causes".

He was the first Catalan to study psychoneuroimmunology and from here decided to delve into the world of amino acids, nutrition, supplementation, hypnosis and microimmunology.

The holistic vision of Xevi Verdaguer on human health has turned him into a first-class professional, with more and more patients turning to him to find alternatives to conventional medicine.
