The AmicsUAB Association to award individuals and entities in a new edition of its annual festival
On 21 November at 7 p.m. the AmicsUAB Association will hold its annual festival at the UAB Casa Convalescència in Barcelona. The celebration will serve to award the Amics dels Amics and the Col·lectiu UAB Awards. Both awards are given in recognition of persons and entities for their contributions in the academic, health, and research fields, and in the defence of social and cultural values.
The Amic dels Amics award will be given posthumously to Elena Galea, researcher at the UAB Institute of Neurosciences, for her great career in scientific research; to Salvador Barberà, honorary professor in the Department of Economics and Economic History at the UAB, notable for his commitment to humanistic values; and to Maite Martín, professor of physiology and former dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, for her research in the area of health and promotion of the one health concept. Mònica Terribas will receive the award for her contribution to the world of journalism and communication.
The collective prize will be awarded to Futbol Club Barcelona, especially to the women's team for its major milestones in the professionalisation of women's sports. The Amic de les Biblioteques award, given by the UAB Library Service, will also be given to the Institute for the History of Science (IHC) for its important contribution to this academic field.
Beatrice Doudu, news anchor of Canal 3/24, will present the event, which will be chaired by Javier Lafuente, rector of the UAB; Susanna Baqué, president of the AmicsUAB, and Tania Nadal, president of the Social Council of the UAB.
