Successful first week of the UAB Games
Football 7 included 375 participants and was the most popular sport among those offered in the first week of the UAB Games 2023. The 4th edition of these games are taking place on campus from 16 to 26 October with a total of 2000 registrations. The last day will end with competitions and activities focusing on the March for Mental Health. Futsal and chess had a large number of participants registered, as did basketball, volleyball, padel tennis, badminton, and many other sports.

This expanded and renewed 4th edition of the UAB Games focuses more than ever on being an activity for the whole university community to participate in and based on the values of sports, active, healthy and sustainable habits, and on solidarity. They are also dedicated to this year's institutional campaign at the UAB: “La salut mental està en joc #guanyemlapartida”.
The UAB Games will offer different ways of participating. Those interested in team sports can sign up for: football-7, futsal, 3x3 basketball, traditional games, beach volleyball, rugby, and inclusive volleyball and basketball. Individual sports will include table tennis, padbol, squash, tennis, chess, court soccer, padel tennis and badminton. Fitness activities include yoga, body combat, core and tai chi, zumba taitxí, zumba, triathlon fit, FitCross and cycling. There are also recreational activities such as TikTok sessions, life-size chess, badminton and inflatable games.
Students participating in three different activities (sports competition, participative activity and the march for mental health) will be able to validate their participation for 1 academic credit.
Registrations will be open until 8 October for the competition activities; until 48 hours before for participation activities (except for life-size chess and Tik Tok where no prior registration is needed); and until 12 noon of 25 October for the March for Mental Health.
Most sports games will be mixed and participants will need to bring their own rackets for the badminton, squash, tennis, table tennis and padel tennis activities. All other sports equipment will be provided by the organisers. Activities will take place in different areas of the campus: SAF building, Espai SiS and in green areas around the campus.
This year the annual march will be dedicated to mental health and offers the possibility of participating by walking or running. It is not a competition and there is no winners' podium, it is meant to be more of a moderate health activity which this year will be dedicated to this year's institutional campaign: “La salut mental està en joc. #guanyemlapartida”. Participating in the march is compulsory for all students interested in obtaining 1 academic credit (in addition to participating in two more activities: a competition and a participative activity). The March for Mental Health will begin at the square in front of the ICTA building, on the other side of the UAB Columns, at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday 26 October, and will end at the Espai SiS.
