Salvador Ventura and Nerea Roher new IBB Director and Assistant Director
Professor Salvador Ventura was recently appointed director of the Institute of Biotechnology and Biomedicine (IBB) of the UAB, and will take over from Professor Xavier Daura, who has been the institute's director for the past six years. Professor Nerea Roher will be institute's new assistant director.

Dr Salvador Ventura, ICREA Academia researcher, is professor of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Biosciences. His research focuses on the area of protein folding and conformational diseases. Nerea Roher is professor at the Department of Cell Biology, Physiology and Immunology at the Faculty of Biosciences and her research focuses on the field of evolutionary immunology and the development of vaccines for fish in aquaculture.
The Institute of Biotechnology and Biomedicine was created by the UAB. The main areas of research are related to biotechnology and biomedicine, with a clear objective to advance towards translational research and knowledge transference.
