New Joan Fuster mobility grants for master's degree and PhD students of the Vives Network universities
The Agency for Management of University and Research Grants (AGAUR) opens the Joan Fuster grants call, an initiative to finance academic stays lasting up to six months for master's degree and PhD students enrolled in universities of the Xarxa Vives Network, of which the UAB is member. Applications can be sent in until 31 March through the Government of Catalonia's grant application portal.

The Joan Fuster grants aim to promote research, the use of Catalan and academic collaborations among Catalan-speaking regions, as well as provide support to the disciplines of social sciences, the humanities and the natural sciences. The main objective is to give support to research projects having a significant impact in the following regions: North Catalonia, Andorra, Catalonia, Valencia, Balearic Islands and Sardenia. The aim is to forster mobility amongst students and encourage their use of the Catalan language.
Each grant includes an endowment of €500 per month, with a minimum duration of one month and a maximum duration of six months, and a maximum total amount of €3,000 per student. The amount financed is intended to cover travel and living expenses at the host university. The stay must take place during the 2024/25 or 2025/26 academic year.
To qualify, candidates must be enrolled in a master's degree or PhD programme at one of the Vives Network universities during the corresponding academic years. They must also have been accepted to carry out a stay in another university of the network (more than 50 km from the university of origin) and must use Catalan as a working language in research activities.
These grants are part of the Plan to Strengthen the Catalan Language at University and in the Research System in Catalonia, which aims to promote knowledge and academic collaboration in Catalan-speaking areas. To apply for the grant it is necessary to attach the necessary documentation: credential of acceptance from the host university, full academic transcript, descriptive report of the research project and letter of motivation.
