María del Carmen Gete-Alonso joins the Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Catalonia
María del Carmen Gete-Alonso, lecturer of civil law at the UAB, has become a full member of the Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Catalonia, dedicated to the study and research of law, collaboration with the reform of legislation, and the promotion of legal culture.

The incorporation was formalised with a ceremony at the Palauet Casades, headquarters of the Barcelona Bar Association, which marked the opening of the 2024/25 academic year. Gete-Alonso delivered her acceptance speech entitled “Reflections on the evolution of private law legal institutions. Substance and form”. The response to her speech was given by Lluís Jou.
Gete-Alonso is lecturer in the Department of Private Law at the UAB. Her career includes receiving the Medal of Honor from the Government of Catalonia in recognition of her contribution to civil law and her commitment to higher education. She also stands out for her contribution to private law and has co-authored, together with Judith Solé, the book Codi Civil de Catalunya, jurisprudència sistemtitzada (Tirant lo Blanch), awarded the Miquel Casals Colldecarrera prize by the Fundació Congrés de Cultura Catalana.
