Global justice covers many areas, as evidenced by the speeches of the winners of the Arcadi Oliveres awards for final project theses on transformation for global justice at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona 2023/24 which, among others, put on the table solutions to the climate crisis and various global social problems.

Imatges discursos pluri TFG

On 17 April, the Arcadi Oliveres Awards Ceremony was held at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) for the Arcadi Oliveres Awards for Bachelor's Degree Final Projects (TFG) on Transformation for Global Justice 2023/24. During the event, the 34 winners were asked to spend one minute explaining why they believed their work contributed to transformation and global justice.

From these speeches, a selection was made by creating a series of videos that will be disseminated through the social networks of the Fundació Autònoma Solidària (FAS) with the aim of giving greater visibility to the contribution made by the UAB in analysing and proposing solutions to global challenges.

This awareness campaign is part of the Pluriversity project that FAS is implementing with the support of the Global Justice Department of the Barcelona City Council to strengthen the discourse of global justice by focusing on activities that implement Global Justice Education at university, especially those led by young people.

As an example, the second video published is the speech given by Elisenda Forés with her Bachelor's Degree Final Project “The analysis of TV3 news on the heat waves of the years 2009, 2012, 2015 and 2022 in Catalonia”, tutored by Frederic Pahis. Elisenda's study evidences the importance of media coverage in raising public awareness about climate change, one of the most urgent global challenges. Through the analysis of the information presented, the quality and relevance of the content can be assessed, thus promoting a better understanding and social response to this phenomenon. This research not only highlights the relevance of news in environmental education, but also encourages the media to be more responsible and committed to the dissemination of accurate and impactful information.

All winning TFGs are published in the UAB Diposit.
