Juan Jesús Donaire elected new dean of the Faculty of Science

Juan Jesús Donaire, lecturer of the UAB Department of Mathematics, was recently elected dean of the Faculty of Science. The Faculty Board passed a vote and elected him dean in an extraordinary session held on 3 June and he will assume office on 1 September. Donaire will take over from lecturer Gemma Garcia, who has served as dean since 2019.

Members of the faculty's new governing team include Natàlia Castellana, lecturer from the Department of Mathematics; Eva Maria Pellicer, lecturer from the Department of Physics; Ramon Alibés, lecturer from the Department of Chemistry; and Lluís Casas, lecturer from the Department of Geology.

Donaire is lecturer in the Area of Mathematical Analysis. He received his PhD from the UAB in 1995 and has been a visiting professor at the University of Berlin, the California Institute of Technology, the Université de Montréal, and at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. His research has focused on the asymptomatic behaviour of analytic functions of a complex variable, in geometric function theory and in the application of stochastic processes to the theory of harmonic functions in Euclidean spaces. He has held other institutional positions at the UAB, such as Vice Rector for Academic Policies and Vice Rector for Teaching Staff and Academic Programming.
