High School Debate League winning team visits the UAB

The 3rd High School Debate League took place on 18, 19 and 20 February. Five high schools of the province of Barcelona competed during three days, and discussed the question: Does internet give us more freedom? The winner of this debate league was the team of the 4th year of ESO of the Escola El CIM in Terrassa. This team, formed by Anna Serrano, Nuria Odena, Jaume Gion and Julia Solanas, will represent Barcelona in the final competition that will take place on 29 and 30 April in the Universitat Politècnica de València, where all the winning teams from local phases will meet.

The team of Escola El CIM has been received in the Faculty of Political Sciences and Sociology by Joan Botella Corral, dean of the Faculty, and Sara Moreno, vice-dean. After seeing the facilities, and receiving advice about the arguments that they can use in the final, the students attended a lecture on Consumption and Sustainability of the bachelor’s degree in Sociology, in charge of professor Vicent Borràs. This lecture will help them understand the factors that influence the so-called freedom of consumption.
