Film music

10/12/2015
In movies, music is a fundamental tool to set the atmosphere, the mood or even the rhythm of the editing in which a particular scene can be executed.
That music can originate outside the production, as in the case of a popular song, or come directly, in the case of the adaptation of an opera or a musical, from the original work. Aside of those cases, in this exhibition we’ll focus on the music conceived and composed specifically for that cinematographic work in particular.
For decades and with the variants of every specific time, movie music has been part of the artistic conception and final execution of films. Also, many melodies with a filmic origin, have become with time, part of our popular culture. Psycho by Bernard Herrmann, The Magnificent Seven by Elmer Bernstein, Star Wars or Superman by John Williams… are real standards of the 20th Century.
In this exhibition you’ll find books about all the variants of cinema music and movie scores and films in which music has become an important part of its memory.
The exhibition will be available since December 10 at the cabinets at the lobby of the Comunication Library. The list of the documents exhibited can be requested via the Pregunt@ service.
