The company Fundación Mis Bragas arrives at the UAB with an innovative and transgressive proposal, aiming to invite the audience to reflect on the climate crisis and the possibility of witnessing our own extinction. On Thursday 10 April at 12:30 p.m. this activity will take place at the UAB Theatre Hall and at various spaces across the campus. All of this forms part of the SIS Week, which aims to promote habits for a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.

Extinction Rave [Situation Diagnosis] is a completely new experience in the world of arts, a different activity whose main goal is to “question the relational ontologies of this modern world-system,” as the theatre company explains. The event consists in a headphone-guided tour through various spaces on the UAB campus, where the forest will merge with sounds of reflections on climate change.

This journey will be taken through the voice of fragments of lectures and interviews. It will include comments and reflections from thinkers in research fields such as Brigitte Vasallo, Amaia Pérez Orozco, and Yayo Herrero. All this with the idea of creating an intimate and contemplative experience, where participants can delve into their mind and the thoughts that these sounds may provoke.

This tonal walk through the well-known UAB forest will invite and guide the audience to observe the space, as well as provide “complex glasses with which to reread and question reality.” The experience will end with 20 minutes of electronic music and relaxation.

This activity stands out in the SIS Week for its ecofeminist perspective, aiming to highlight the current situation of what is called ecocide, a destruction of ecosystems and the quality of life of its inhabitants. This activity seeks to denounce the mechanisms that trigger this situation and convey it to the participants through this journey.

Extinction Rave [Situation Diagnosis] originated as a site-specific intervention at the Museum of Natural Sciences in Barcelona in 2023, where it was first performed. On Thursday 10 April it will land at the SIS Week to provoke a new space for reflection and maturation on the effects of climate change.
