"Entre línies" looks at the history of illustrated literature
From 3 June to 25 July and from 2 to 17 September the Exhibitions Hall of the Communications Library and General Newspaper Archive will be displaying “Entre línies. Viatge, desig i fantasia il·lustrada” [Between Lines. Travel, Desire and Illustrated Fantasy], an exhibition looking at the history of illustrated literature.

This exhibition travels in different directions through illustrated literature, including the great universal classics treated as literary jewels and traditional tales passed down orally, as well as children's tales, adventure stories and other main mainstream stories.
The general idea is to show that books go far beyond their unique stories, which are always plural, and are mixed with the narrations of those who read them and connect with the imaginary world described in order to create a visual idealisation of what is being told. The illustrations, therefore, are not only a broad example of the text, but many times become something independent and turn into a unique fantasy which summarises this imaginary.
