The Secretariat for Universities and Research, through the Interuniversity Council of Catalonia (CIC), has a university stand at the international conference on employment and professional orientation, JOBarcelona. The fair takes place on 16 and 17 February at the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya and its main purpose is to promote employment among young people. It is aimed at university students in their third year or higher and at recent graduates. The participating universities hold interviews with the heads of the human resources department of 100 companies and have access to work placement and job offers.

JOBarcelona is an important annual meeting point in which companies and young university students and graduates can come in direct contact with each other and discover professional opportunities. The fair also serves for students to undergo selection processes, interviews, and attend conferences and seminars. Companies have the opportunity to expand their registry of candidates and capture young talent through Employer Branding actions.

On Monday 16 February at 7:15 pm, the Secretariat for Universities and Research offered a conference entitled “Pla DI per a empreses: accedir al talent innovador en col·laboració amb les universitats”, with the participation of Maria Salamero, Director of Aqualogy Coneixement (Grup Agbar), a firm which works closely with the Generalitat in many projects.

In the first edition of JOBarcelona, a total of 14,000 people attended and 85 companies participated. This year's fair includes 100 companies, 450 experts in human resources, 20,000 students and there it is calculated that some 2,000 job offers available for students and graduates. The fair also includes over 90 conferences and 100 workshops.
