Awards decided for the best Degree Final Projects using Service Learning methodology and the Arcadi Oliveres Awards for Degree Final Projects for global justice
Verdict reached on awards for the best degree final projects on the topics of transformation for global justice and using the Service Learning methodology. Next March 28, the Arcadi Oliveres awards to be presented in the Economics and Business Hall and, on May 5 the Service Learning awards will be presented as part of the 4th Service Learning Day at the UAB.
Arcadi Oliveres Awards
The Fundació Autònoma Solidària (FAS) holds its Degree Final Project awards every year to honour the best theses by Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona students on the subjects of transformation for global justice. For this edition, the awards have been renamed after Arcadi Oliveres. The awards promote interest in research around topics such as the culture of peace, migrations, the social economy, community health, and so on, as well as innovative methodologies, as part of the university's commitment to solving the challenges of the modern world and its key role in the generation of critical knowledge and the education of an active population that is ready to promote social change.
As stipulated by the regulations for this 6th edition, the procedure for evaluating the presented projects involved two stages. In the first, each project was assessed by an expert professor in the given field and by the team of specialists from the Cooperation and Education for Global Justice Department of the FAS.. The second phase involved a meeting of the resolution committee, which reached a verdict on the prizes for each degree.
The prizewinners in this edition are: Jinyue Bai and Laura Vetter from the School of Engineering; Anna Pallarés Garcia, Elsa Carbonell Malet, Carla Gil Piñeira, Alberto Carrasco Parrón and Belén Mahia Vizcaíno from the Faculty of Biosciences; Oriol Llopis Almela, Eudald Vehí Llorente and Mónica Cano Garrido from the Faculty of Sciences; Alaaddine Azzouzi Rahmouni and Lucia Collera Tamargo from the Faculty of Communication Sciences; Joan Arnijas from the Faculty of Education Sciences; Samir Rezali Hoummira, Jordi Sorolla Garcia, Roser Lafont Colomines and Júlia Cabello Abadal from the Faculty of Political Sciences and Sociology; Jan Cubillo Solà and Ricardo Pol Hermida from the Faculty of Law; Pablo Algarrada Vera from the Faculty of Economics and Business; Julia Ron Soto, Laura Franco Nieto, Pablo Marid Arancibia, Cristina Troya Betrian and Raquel Sancho Ruiz from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters; Daina Parellada Moreno from the Faculty of Medicine; Nathan Percy from the Faculty of Translation and Interpretation; and Xavier Rincón Moledo from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
At the award ceremony, to be held at noon on March 28 in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Economics and Business, we will be able to learn more about the winning projects in each field that will receive monetary prizes.
Awards for Service Learning methodology
The Service Learning (ApS) Office at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), managed by the Fundació Autònoma Solidària, is holding the second edition of the Degree Final Project awards for the best theses produced using the Service Learning methodology by UAB students in the 2021-2022 academic year. These Degree Final Projects address the needs and challenges of civil society. After entries had been submitted, the evaluation procedure consisted of two phases. In the first stage, each project was assessed by an expert professor in the field of knowledge to which each project relates. In the second phase, on 19 December 2022, the resolution committee sat and decided which projects would receive prizes, which were: Paula Ezpeleta (Biology); Anna Serra Peralta (Environmental Biology); Anna Aparicio (Primary Education); Elisabet Pérez Méndez (Gender Sociocultural Studies). Cristina Vergés Rodríguez (Psychology); Lyna Tahraoui (Translation and Interpretation); Queralt Garcia Vila (Food Science and Technology); Laura Fuertes Moyano (Veterinary Science).
The awards ceremony will be held on May 5, as part of the 4th Service Learning Day at the UAB.
