A UAB study received a special mention in the 36th edition of the CAC Awards in audiovisual communication research, organised by the Catalan Audiovisual Council (CAC). The study, entitled “L’externalització de la producció als mitjans públics: el cas de la CCMA” [The externalisation of production in public media: the case of CCMA], was conducted by Àlex López Alcalde and analyses how the Catalan Corporation of Audiovisual Media (CCMA) manages the production of its contents.

The jury of the CAC Awards decided to award this study for its contribution to the understanding of the functioning of public media in Catalonia and the effects that the outsourcing of audiovisual productions can have on the quality and independence of information. The awards ceremony took place on 1 April at the Victor Siurana Hall of the Rectorat building of the University of Lleida (UdL).

The CAC Awards, now in their 36th edition, are one of the most prestigious awards in the field of audiovisual communication research in Catalonia. The aim of the awards is to promote excellence in research and contribute to the academic debate on key issues such as media regulation, journalistic ethics, cultural diversity and informative veracity. With categories open to different academic levels, the awards have become a platform of visibility for researchers in the field.
