Renewal of the agreement with the Elsevier publishing house
The CRUE (Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities) has renewed the transformative agreement with the Elsevier publishing house for the 2025-2028 period, approved at its last Extraordinary General Assembly, which took place on Friday 4 April.

The renewal of the agreement with the publisher Elsevier, which expired on 31 December 2024, has been approved. This renewal will facilitate the availability of APCs from this publisher for the next four years as well as access to full-text reading of ScienceDirect journals.
The list of journal titles included in the new license and the APCs (Article Processing Charges) management platform will be available in the next few days. As this information becomes available, you will be able to consult it on the Funding for Open Access Publishing page.
This publisher will allow open back-publication of articles published in closed access during the first quarter of 2025, in the eligible journals of the agreement.
The UAB Library Service will contact corresponding authors to offer them this option when Elsevier provides the corresponding information.
This transformative agreement of its subscription licenses is added to others that CRUE has already achieved with other publishers such as Wiley, Springer Nature and American Chemical Society (ACS) with the aim of advancing in the socialisation of knowledge through open access.
