"No other land": huge participation in the Justice for Palestine film forum
On 19 March, the UAB Cinema Hall hosted a film forum with the screening of No Other Land, winner of several international awards, including Oscar for best feature documentary. The event, organised by the FAS together with UAB groups of solidarity with Palestine, was a resounding success. The cinema hall reached its maximum capacity, demonstrating the interest of spaces to discuss the current crisis in Palestine.

The film forum was divided into three parts. First, a presentation was given by the representatives of the UAB Network for Palestine, Lucia Molina and Hisham Abu-Sahar, together with Amina El Hassak from the UAB Action for Palestine collective, who read a manifesto written by a student from Gaza. This introduction presented the advocacy work of these groups in the university environment, highlighting the seriousness of the current situation, the need for a firm position of universities against genocide and its perpetrators, and the urgency of acting from all possible spheres.
This was followed by the screening of the documentary No other land, an act of creative resistance in the search for justice in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The documentary explores a key moment in this conflict through the story of Basel Adra, a young Palestinian activist who for five years has been documenting the massive expulsion of his community by the Israeli authorities. During this process, Basel Adra forms an alliance with an Israeli journalist who wants to join in this struggle, however, their circumstances and positions are very different. This documentary captures the brutality of the occupation and the complexities of the struggle for justice.
After the screening, a video sent by Islam Almabhouh was shown. Islam is a UAB PhD student who is currently in the Gaza Strip pursuing his PhD online through the UAB Refugee scholarships for Palestinians.
To close the event, a debate was held with the participation of the groups UAB Action for Palestine, the UAB Network for Palestine and the audience. The conversation allowed for a more profound discussion of the different perspectives of the conflict, opinions and positions, addressing both the current situation and the ways of peaceful resistance, and the importance of international mobilisation.
