New introduction guide to SDG and Global Justice in degree reports
Universities face global challenges such as climate change, social inequalities and the digitalisation of society. In this context, universities have the opportunity to lead in educational innovation through the effective integration of the Sustainable Development Goals in different academic programmes, within the framework of cooperation and education for global justice. This new guide, developed by the UAB Solidarity Foundation (FAS), provides guidelines on how to incorporate the SDGs and global justice in university bachelor's and master's degree reports.

With this in mind, and in response to Royal Decree 822/2021, which establishes that university studies must be aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda, an analysis has been carried out to identify specific areas in which work on the SDGs can be incorporated within the UAB. As a result, a guide has been created to facilitate the incorporation of the SDGs and global justice in university bachelor's and master's degree reports.
This guide, prepared by Xènia Galvadà on behalf of the Fundació Autònoma Solidària under the framework of the Pluriversitat project, in collaboration with the Faculty of Political Science and with the support of the Barcelona City Council, arises from the need to apply the SDGs in a structured way in the academic disciplines of the university. The guide aims to provide practical and applicable tools to university lecturers at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona to implement the main axes of the Royal Decree 822/2021 and incorporate the framework of global justice and human rights in teaching.
The document is structured into several sections. First, it contextualises the reasons for this guide and the normative context. Secondly, it analyses the different frameworks that relate the SDGs to university education, also addressing global justice as a cross-cutting framework, sustainability and gender perspective, etc. Next, it specifies the adaptation of the reports in three key dimensions: competencies and learning outcomes, contents and methodologies, and evaluation. Finally, it proposes a step-by-step itinerary for a comprehensive application of the SDGs in academic sessions. Therefore, this guide offers practical tips to become a tool to promote a university committed to sustainability and global justice.
