The UAB Welcome Refugee programme offers initiatives to complement university work placements focused on promoting the rights of people forced to migrate and/or in asylum seekers, thus helping them rebuild their lives and their future. In the past months, the programme has been working on improving the welcoming process, with the aim of making it easier for new students to feel at home at the UAB, with the publication of a web section and a specific welcome guide.

Welcome new students UAB Refuge Program

To facilitate the administrative procedures and the arrival at the UAB, the Fundació Autònoma Solidària (FAS) has published the Welcome Guide for students of the UAB Welcome Refugee programme. With useful information when arriving at university, infographics on the different phases of grant rogrammes, administrative procedures, incorporation into campus life, etc. The document is available in Catalan, Spanish, English, Ukranian and will be soon available in Arabic.

With the same purpose of improving communication, a new space has been created within the FAS website with contents through which the student can learn in detail about the Refugee programme. It includes information on accompaniment, grants, mentoring, awareness-raising and training.

These actions, which have received the support of the Ministry for Science, Innovation and Universities, the Fundació Caixa d'Enginyers and the Ministry for Equality and Feminisms of the Government of Catalonia, aim to simplify and facilitate information and communication during the reception process, thus reinforcing the UAB's commitment to inclusion and support for people seeking refuge on their way to a new stage in their lives.
