Ràdio 4 celebrates 100 years of radio with live programmes at the UAB

On 14 November, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the first radio emission in Spain, the UAB Faculty of Communication Studies will play host to a live broadcasting of all of Ràdio 4's programmes. The RTVE's Catalan radio station leaves its studios to commemorate this special day: the programmes "L'entrallat", "Metròpoli", "Xavifòrnia" and the "Edició Migdia" news programme will be broadcast from a UAB radio studio.

Starting at 10 a.m., "L'entrellat" with Samanta Villar will air with comedian Ana Polo and featuring journalists Natalia Sánchez and Paula Ginés from the program "La Matinera". Villar will also be speaking with with journalist Sira Cusiné, UAB students and a representative of the National Youth Council, to talk about the problems of the Z generation: housing, sexism, university fees, etc.

Then at 12 noon, Xavi Collado will start the "Metròpoli" programme with the group Els amics de les arts and the live performance of Sabor de Gràcia. And the "Xavifòrnia" at 4 p.m., conducted by Xavi Martínez, will have as guests musicians Alfred García and Mr. Kilombo and the family educational psychologist Arantxa Coca.

As for the news, the "Edició Migdia" (news broadcast emitted jointly by RNE, Radio 5 and Ràdio 4) will also be broadcast at 1:15 p.m. from the UAB. In the Sports section, Marga Lluch will interview Laura Heredia, UAB student who has been the first Spanish woman to participate in the Olympic Games in the pentathlon discipline.

And in the last 15 minutes of the news programme, Mireia Moreno will host a talk show to analyse the role of radio in society, its future and that of the profession, with Enric Marín, dean of the UAB Faculty of Communication Studies; journalist Pepa Fernández, presenter of RNE's weekend morning show "No es un día cualquiera", and Sonia Urbano, deputy director of News at RNE Catalunya.
