The UAB to attend the third edition of the Barcelona Deep Tech Summit
The UAB will once again attend the Barcelona Deep Tech Summit, to be held on 5, 6 and 7 November at the Barcelona Gran Via Fairgrounds. The summit forms part of the Smart City Expo World Congress. Participating will be the spin-off companies Distinkt and AEInnova, as well as the research group TransMedia Catalonia.
The Barcelona Deep Tech Summit is organised by Barcelona Activa and the five Catalan public universities: Universitat de Barcelona, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Universitat Pompeu Fabra and Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. The summit integrates advanced technologies emerging from universities and research centres with the major challenges facing cities.
The UAB spin-off companies Distinkt and AEInnova will be showcasing their solutions at the congress. Distinkt specialises in the generation of high-security fluorescent inks based on nanotechnology, while AEInnova develops products related to alternative energies, sensorisation and the Internet of Things (IoT). It created the first sensors on the market powered by waste heat and is competing for the award for the best Deep Tech Start-Up, which will be announced on Thursday 7 November at 1 p.m.
The research group TransMedia Catalonia will also be present with several projects: ALFIE, which is working on an ethical, unbiased and accessible artificial intelligence; GreenSCENT, which focuses on accessible climate communication, and WEL, which seeks accessibility in video games through interactive activities. The group will be present at the AccessCat Network booth on Wednesday 6 November from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on Thursday 7 November from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The Barcelona Deep Tech Summit showcases innovative solutions linked to four major global challenges: energy transition and sustainability, industry 4.0 and mobility, digital health, and space. It also has a full programme of conferences, round tables and workshops by experts and professionals from these sectors.
