Clothes with a past are a future with value!
The environmental volunteering group, linked to the UAB's solidarity Foundation (FAS), launches a second-hand clothes donation campaign for the exchange market that will be held on 12 and 13 November at the UAB's Plaça Cívica.
Do you have clothes in your closet that you do not wear? Do you want to wear new clothes without spending money? Starting today and until the day of the clothes exchange market, you can bring clothes to the Fundació Autònoma Solidària's premises in the Plaça Cívica (from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.). During the two days of the market, which will take place on 12 and 13 November from 12 noon to 3 p.m. in the Plaça Cívica, people who previously donated clothes will receive a free voucher that can be used to exchange for other garments.
The exchange market seeks to give clothing a second life and encourage a more responsible and sustainable consumption. The volunteer group wants to raise community awareness about the serious environmental impacts of the fashion industry. According to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, the fashion industry generates approximately 92 million tonnes of textile waste each year worldwide, including discarded garments and materials wasted during production. With this campaign, the volunteer group wants to encourage members of the university to get into the habit of reusing instead of discarding, thus reducing their environmental footprint and promoting a more conscious use of resources.
Participation is open to the entire university community. Do not hesitate to collaborate and contribute to making a more sustainable world. For more information, you can contact the FAS environmental programme: fas.mediambient@gmail.com.
