Awards for the shorts "Ei, Temi" and "Azadi" created by UAB students
The short film Ei, Temi by Jesús Minchón, Marta Aguilella and Arnau Belloc won the audience award at the Abastos Festival and the La GRAN Pantalla festival. The documentary Azadi, directe by Lily Baker Föhring, Juan Luís Ortega Navarrete and Luciana Espinoza Hoempler, received a special distinction from the jury of the Film Festival for Women's Rigths in Seoul. The authors of the two short films are students of the UAB master's degree in Theory and Practice of Creative Documentary Making.
Ei, Temi explores the relationship between an elderly woman and a home support robot and addresses issues such as loneliness and the need for human and non-human relationships.
The documentary Azadi, about the struggle of Iranian women, had previously received the award for best documentary at the Igualgaba competition, and a special mention in the New Authorship section of the SGAE awards at the Sitges Festival.
These proposals arise from the UAB master's degree in Theory and Practice of Creative Documentary Making, which aims to train students in a line of experimentation, and deep and transcendent creativity. The lecturers also promotes lines of research towards a new aesthetic for the new times and gives visibility to its results in alliance with several institutions, film festivals and art and culture centres.
