"Ángel Guimerà, dramaturg universal" exhibition at the UAB
From 10 October to 10 December 2024 the UAB Exhibitions Hall (Communications Library and General Newspaper Archives) will be displaying the exhibition entitled "Ángel Guimerà, dramaturg universal", dedicated to the international trajectory of one of the most important playwrights in Catalan literature. This exhibition forms part of the activities being held for the Any Guimerà, which highlight the influence and legacy of a world-renowned playwright.
This exhibition includes a selection of documents, audiovisual materials, objects and international posters that illustrate and explain Guimerà's life and international career, highlighting his role in the global theatrical context. The exhibition aims to highlight his influence and legacy on the contemporary dramatic scene, focusing on Spain, Europe and America. It also presents materials reflecting translations and adaptations of his works into various languages, evidencing his impact beyond Catalonia's borders.

This initiative not only pays tribute to the figure of Guimerà, but also seeks to promote interest in Catalan theatre plays. The exhibition underlines the need to preserve and disseminate cultural heritage, ensuring that Guimerà's work continues to inspire future generations.
The exhibition is organised by the Vice-Rectorate for Communication and Culture of the UAB, with the scientific advice of the Centre de Recerca en Arts Escèniques (CRAE-UAB) and the collaboration of the MAE-Centre de Documentació i Museu de les Arts Escèniques (Institut del Teatre de Barcelona) and the Casa Museu Àngel Guimerà in Vendrell.
