ECIU University to offer a workshop on challenge-based learning

Challenge-based learning (CBL) is a paedogigal approach that gets students actively involved in a real-life situation that is relevant and related to their environment. The learning experience is multidisciplinary, and takes into account the different points of views of all those interested, with the aim of working in collaboration to develop a solution; one that is environmentally, socially and economically sustainable.

This workshop, aimed at lecturers interested in applying the challenge-based learning methodology, will be offered online and will focus on teamwork and the role of lecturers as facilitators for students (instead of experts in the matter). At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to take an informed decision on whether they are interested in applying this methodology in class. They will also become familiar with the basic principles of challenge-based learning, each step in the process and the different existing roles (e.g., external partner) and how to combine the methodology and implement it with their students.

The workshop offers a combination of interactive presentations, teaching experiences from the area of engineering, working in reduced groups, exchanges and creative methods.
