ECIU University launches new challenges and micro-modules
UAB students can enrol in any of the challenges and micro-modules proposed by the universities belonging to the ECIU University. Some training proposals include a week of mobility with all expenses paid.

The UAB offers two new challenges under the framework of the ECIU University in this second semester. Registrations will be open until 1 April:
Creating an inclusive environment for children with multiple disabilities: this challenge aims to provide a solution to the accessibility and participation available to children with multiple disabilities. The combination of the difficulties inherent in neurological lesions and the fact that society, cities and homes are designed for people who meet the normative requirements leads to significant social exclusion. It is therefore necessary to adapt technology to the needs of children with disabilities to help reduce their dependency.
This challenge will take place from 7 April to 4 July 2025 and will include a mobility week in Barcelona. The challenge is provided by the Nexe Fundació, an organisation whose mission is to improve the life of these children.
The challenge can be validated for 3 ECTS credits.
Empowering Neighbourhoods: Keeping Barcelona’s Community Spaces Alive: proposed by the Federació d’Associacions Veïnals de Barcelona, this challenge aims to make Barcelona’s neighbourhoods more visible and guarantee the existence of public community spaces, given that rises in rent prices and the increase of tourism currently pose a threat. Students participating in the challenge will need to rethink the public spaces of northern Barcelona to make them places for residents to meet, connect and feel safe, making them more inclusive, accessible and resilient, before they are lost for good.
This challenge will take place from 8 April to 4 July 2025 and will include a mobility week in Barcelona.
The challenge can be validated for 3 ECTS credits.
UAB micro-modules
In addition to the challenges, students can also enrol in micro-modules, short training capsules that allow them to acquire more skills.
The Fortress Europe: human rights violations against migrants and refugees at Europe's borders micro-module offers students the chance to take on challenges related to the humanitarian situation of displaced people in Europe’s borders from a Human Rights approach and an intersectional gender perspective.
The UAB will also once again offer Energy in transportation, aimed at learning how to calculate the impact of our transport system in terms of energy and explore the best strategies to reduce this impact; and Gender as a cross-cutting tool for understanding, diagnosing, and solving challenges, in which students will identify and understand key concepts of feminist thinking and how to apply a gender and queer perspective when analysing social challenges.
International experience
In addition to the challenges and micro-modules offered by the UAB, students can participate in any of the proposals organised by the universities forming part of the ECIU University. These programmes can be found on the challenges and micro-modules platform, regularly updated with a variety of proposals ranging from artificial intelligence to engineering. Many of these experiences include a short mobility stay at the host university, with all expenses paid.
