Three Alumni from the faculty, winners of important awards
The Faculty of Sciences celebrates the notable achievements of three of its students, Claudia Platel, Loredana Sandu, and Carlota Loreto Castro Ssnchez, who have been recognized with prestigious awards in the field of science and mathematics.

Claudia Platel, recently graduated in the double degree in Physics and Mathematics, has won one of the listed Wonnow grants from LaCaixa and Microsoft for women of STEM careers. CaixaBank and Microsoft have recognized their excellence and dedication in this field, highlighting it as one of the 16 best STEM degree students in Spain. This award not only reflects the individual success of Claudia but also the continuous excellence of students of this degree at the UAB, since it is the third consecutive year in which a student of the faculty obtains this award.
On the other hand, Loredana Sandu and Carlota Loreto Castro S'nchez have been awarded by the Catalan Association of Artificial Intelligence (ACIA) with the "Premi, for the best Master's Degree, 2023 His outstanding contributions to his bachelor's degree final projects have been recognized as notable in the field of artificial intelligence.
Loredana Sandu, recently graduated in mathematics, has highlighted with her work entitled "Fuzzy Logic in Artificial Intelligence: a study of fuzzy set theory and its applications to Explainable AI". This study delves into the diffuse logic and its applications to Explainable Artificial Intelligence.
On the other hand, Carlota Loreto Castro S·nchez, of the degree of Computational Mathematics and Data Analytics, has received the award for her contribution entitled "Modelization of temporal data on human behavior: impact of exogenous variables on the prediction of sexual assaults." His work stands out for its practical application to the modelling of temporal data and its impact on the prediction of sexual assaults.
With these recognitions, students of the Faculty of Sciences of the UAB continue to demonstrate their excellence and significant contribution to the fields of science.
