Science and Art converge at 'A'A, B'B': An exhibition in collaboration with the UAB at the Fundació Tàpies

Imatge pissarra

The Fundació Tàpies presents the exhibition "A'A, B'B", a unique fusion of science and art that takes as its starting point the book "La nueva visión del mundo" (1954). Commissionered by the associate professor of the physics department of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Josep Vidal, this exhibition explores the validity of the talks of Sankt Gallen in the 1950s and connects them with the present. Some students of the Faculty participate in this experience.

"A'A, B'B" is a proposal that reflects the interest of the artist Antoni Tàpies in the aforementioned book, placing his reflections in the current context. From 13 December 2023 to 3 March 2024, the exhibition exhibits works by artists such as Daniel Bejar, Jorge Carrión, Agathe Casals, Lúa Coderch, Violeta Mayoral, Mariona Moncunill, Tanit Plana, Nimesh Ramesh Chahare, Irene Solà, Irena Visa, Ian Waelder, John Baldessari and Antoni Tàpies himself.

On 18th January at 18:00, the "B'B" part of the event will be staged with the participation of four physics students from the UAB: Zaira Amilburu, Emma Bertr.n, Adrià Calm and Francesc Puchal. This interactive session, halfway between a forensic laboratory and an expanded laboratory notebook, will offer a detailed scientific analysis of the exposed pieces.

To bring this space closer to the public, an informal conversation is planned between the artists Violeta Mayoral and Nimesh Chahare, as well as the students and the curator Pep Vidal. They will explore the case studies generated from the works on display and discuss the intersection between science and art. This activity, which is held within the framework of the Tàpies Year, highlights the importance of collaboration between the UAB and the Fundació Tàpies in the field of science and art.

"A'A, B'B" offers a unique opportunity to explore the convergence between science and art.  This exhibition represents an enriching experience that not only reflects history, but also connects it with the present and future of artistic and scientific creation.
