The Erasmus+ NATOUR project concluded with a final conference in Bogotá, where representatives of the ten member universities of the consortium met, and with the creation of a new international specialization in sustainable tourism and nature guide. This October 2024 marked the successful conclusion of the Erasmus+ NATOUR project. Led by Professor Francesc Romagosa and coordinated by the Autonomous University of Barcelona, this project has, over the past three years, facilitated the creation of a joint postgraduate program in ecotourism and nature guiding between universities in Europe and Latin America. The new joint program arose from the pioneering experience of the Postgraduate Course in Ecotourism and Nature Guiding, offered in recent years by Turisme i Direcció Hotelera - Escola FUAB Formació. Starting from the second semester of the 2024-2025 academic year, it will be available in a hybrid format (online/onsite) under the new title of Specialization in Sustainable Tourism Planning and Heritage Interpretation, which is part of the new Master’s in Tourism Innovation and Sustainability.

As part of the NATOUR project, various activities have been carried out over the past few months (see the project’s latest newsletter), such as student mobility from Latin America who attended the pilot edition of the new course and completed professional internships in ecotourism companies in Europe. Additionally, the final project meeting and conference were held last September in Bogotá, Colombia, where representatives from the ten partner universities in the project consortium gathered. The event also featured a fair showcasing ecotourism companies and projects representative of the South American country.

One of the academic outcomes of the project is the recent publication of the learning materials that make up the common modules of the new joint course, published as a book by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. These materials were coordinated by Professor Romagosa and developed by a team of faculty members from the project’s partner universities.
