Ten places available for the Riga Summer School

For five immersive days, and with a few online activities back home, ten UAB students will be able to enjoy the Riga Summer School, held from 19 to 23 May, and earn 3 ECTS credits. Applications can be sent in until 16 March.

From 19 to 23 May, the Riga Technical University in Latvia will be hosting the Summer School of the Erasmus+ #EDU4SDGS project, a programme designed to training change agents across Europe and administered from the UAB Challenges Office.

For five immersive days, the ten selected UAB students will participate in games, debates and interactive activities with experts in sustainability and global development with the aim of delving deeper into and learning more about the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), an initiative of the 2030 Agenda to end a series of problems existing today.

Students participating in the summer shcool will earn a digital micro-credential issued by the Riga Technical University accrediting the skills acquired and a chance to earn 3 ECTS credits.

How to participate

The Riga Summer School is addressed to 2nd, 3rd and 4th year UAB students who have passed 60 ECTS credits and have a B2 level of English (certificate required). Registration is open until March 16 and must be done through this form, in which the language certificate and a motivation letter must be attached.

Those selected will receive a European grant of 800 euros as a contribution to travel and living expenses during their period of stay.

Selection criteria

The maximum score each student may receive is 10 points, which will be awarded based on the following criteria:

1. English Level B2: 50% (5 points).

2. Motivation letter explaining the reasons why the student is interested in participating (200 words): 50% (5 points).

Once the applications have been scored, a list will be drawn up from highest to lowest scores and the two best-ranked applications in each field (health sciences, science and biosciences, arts and humanities, social and legal sciences, and engineering) will be selected.

If there are vacancies in any of the fields of knowledge, the grant will be awarded to the student with the highest position on the list, regardless of their field.
