Returns Mentoria UAB, the program to boost the professional career of 4th students

Mentoria UAB is a great opportunity for students facing the final part of their studies with uncertainty about their job choices. Following the pilot experience of the 2022-2023 academic year, involving 15 students in economics and business and the School of Engineering, Alumni UAB launched the program, this year opening it to all the Colleges and Schools, with 10 students per center. 

Who is who
Mentores are students with professional experience in team or project leadership, guiding and supporting people throughout their professional careers, who provide their background to help mentors discover their skills, understand the labour market in their sector, have the first professional experiences, create their own network of contacts and draw up an action plan to develop their professional future. 

What do they say
Everyone who has participated in the first edition of Mentoria UAB very much appreciates the experience and agrees that it has been enriching. Mentored people have helped them to get to know themselves better and to understand how the labour market in their sector works: “He has helped me grow up personally and especially to work on my work profile,” one of the participants commented. For mentors it has also been an opportunity to learn, both from fellow mentors and from students, they positively value the personal relationship they have established with young people, and the possibility of putting their professional career to value, helping new generations. 

The Program
Mentoria UAB has a duration of about 7 months and starts this October, consists of a series of activities and meetings, and for the mentored people it has academic recognition of 3 RAC credits. It is organized into group sessions, mostly online, for both mentored people and people mentoring about the practice and goals of a mentorship. There are also training pills of professional skills and transversal skills, and the conduct of a self-knowledge test. In addition, regular meetings are held between couples with a minimum of 50% attendance and visits to mentors' companies. The programme ends with the presentation of the action plan prepared by the mentors and a closing act where the entire UAB community that has participated in the program meets.
