Admission Official Master's Degree in Paleobiology and Fossil Record

Access

Access to this master's degree is open to holders of an official bachelor's degree from a Spanish university or from another higher education institution within or outside the European Higher Education Area, provided this gives access to postgraduate studies in the country of issue.

Admission requirements

It will be necessary to demonstrate proficiency in spoken and written English to be able to understand texts and hold a conversation (Recommendation level B2 / First certificate).

Selection criteria

If the number of applicants exceeds the number of places available, places will be awarded in accordance with the following criteria:

  • Being a graduate in a branch of Bioscience or Earth Science (Geology and Marine Science), Natural Science or Environmental Science: 20%
  • Academic record in the bachelor’s degree: 30%
  • Interview (online or in person): 30%
  • Letter of motivation: 10%
  • Proof of proficiency in English at least to level B2 (First certificate): 10%.

Complementary training

These training supplements will be taken simultaneously with the master’s degree during its first semester. The determination of these training supplements will be based on an analysis of the subjects taken by the student (academic record) in the admission qualification. The training supplements are made up of the following subjects from the UAB Bachelor’s Degree in Geology:

  • 101030-Life on Earth (6 ECTS credits)
  • 101049-Palaeontology I (6 ECTS credits)
  • 101044-Planet Earth (4 ECTS credits)
  • 101064-Stratigraphy (6 ECTS credits) 

Students who take these training supplements must ensure they take full advantage of them, receiving the corresponding help and any adaptation needed.
